Patriots 19-0! Super Bowl Champs...in San Gregorio, Nicaragua

Yes folks, that's right. Your New England Patriots are Super Bowl Champs once again. Unfortunately this is true only in the parallel universe of donations to the 3rd world. Zach and I scouted out the location of the hats and tees donated after the Pats lost to the Giants a few weeks ago. We rode into San Gregorio and quickly enlisted some local agents (shown in pics) to help us buy a few hats and t-shirts in an attempt to rewite history. It was all in fun, we gave the boys a few extra bucks and some food for helping us out. The town is the definition of extreme poverty, we figured for the money we paid for the Pats SB gear, each family could buy a lot more stuff in the long run.

SI Swimsuit Edition Shot on Location in San Juan

Here's a pic of me at the shoot on location at Morgan's Rock. Like my new bald man's mullet? Unfortunately, I'm just kidding about being there, but you can see more of the...swimwear here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/2008_swimsuit/onlocation/nicaragua/

Backpacks for School Children!

This past Monday, Justin and I went to a local San Juan elementary school and helped to distribute backpacks full of school supplies (360 - which we packed on Saturday) and enjoyed interacting with the kids who ranged in age from 3-14.  All of the supplies were donations from Morgan's Rock, as well as guests who stay at the hotel - a program initiated by Gladis, our friend who manages the hotel.

Getting to know the locals...

Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, including the local authorities.  We've hit up the local bar, The Iguana, a number of times already since our arrival...

Driving in the city...

During our first week here, one of Zach and Suyen's friends was good enough to let us borrow his car, also known as "the ambulance" for the long benches in the back of the truck.  Both of us drove, but we are in agreement that Sarah is the better driver.

A beautiful view...

Our friends are care-taking this gorgeous home in the hills that overlook the bay of San Juan.  It is for sale in case anyone is interested!!!  Check out www.aurorabeachfront.com for more info.

We made it!

After an exhausting flight from Boston to Managua, we finally made it to San Juan on Tuesday, January 29th.  We were fortunate to find, not only our luggage, but the pooch in tact.  As you can see, Cooper is struggling to adjust...
